Medicinal Uses of Aloe Vera

“Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food” – Hippocrates

Medicinal uses of Aloe Vera is known for long time. As Aloe posses many curative properties it’s often called the Medicinal Aloe which believed to have originated in Northern Africa.

Because of it’s therapeutic components Aloe is used in several medical conditions-both external and internal.

Aloe Vera has a long association with Herbal Medicine, although it is not known when its medicinal uses were first discovered.

Early records of Aloe Vera’s medicinal use appear in the Ebers Papyrus from 16th century BC, in both Dioscorides’ De Materia Medica and Pliny the Elder’s Natural Historywritten in the mid-first century CE along with the Juliana Anicia Codex produced in 512 CE.

Aloe Vera is used widely in the traditional Herbal Medicine of China, Japan, Russia, South Africa, United States, Jamaica and India.

There is no clear cut scientific explanation as to why & how Aloe Vera works in medical conditions but numerous case studies indicated that drinking or applying Aloe undoubtedly exhilarate the healing process.
