Dandruff is probably the most common condition faced by men & women. And it can effect anyone at any age. While it may not be a major health issue but it is certainly one of the most embarrassing thing. And often time it seems like you tried every anti-dandruff product you see on TV but it is not just leaving you!

What is Dandruff ?
Dandruff affects the scalp and causes flakes of skin to appear - it is a common condition. Someone with this problem can also have itchy & red scalp while some may not experience that.
The Common Causes
Experts come up with some common causes that might increase the chance of DandruffIrregular or No Hair-Brushing People who do not comb/brush their hair regularly has higher chance of getting it. Because they are not clearing the flakes as a result of skin renewal and overtime all are just storing inside. Dry Skin People with dry skin and over heated room temperature can contribute to getting flaky scalp. Irritated Oily Skin (seborrheic dermatitis) People with seborrheic dermatitis are very prone to this condition. Seborrheic dermatitis affects not only just scalp but many areas of the skin, including the backs of the ears, the breastbone, eyebrows, and the sides of the nose. The effected person will have red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Not Enough Shampooing This a controversial one. But some experts says not enough shampooing can cause flakes. As there can be a buildup of oil and dead skin cells, causing this problem. Some Skin Conditions Patient with Psoriasis, eczema and some other skin disorders tend to get itchy and flaky scalps much more frequently than other people. Products Reaction Sometimes people with sensitive scalp can get reaction after using hair care products or some shampoos. Causing multiple problems as itching, redness leading to dandruff. Diet Poor diet is one of the major factor. People with low zinc, B vitamins and fats in their diet are more prone to this. Stress Stress is also linked as a causing factor and off-course there are some other causes too.
Treating Dandruff in DIY Style
There are many anti-dandruff shampoos in the market and you can certainly select anyone of those. And to be honest some works really well. I have nothing opposing those products. But sometimes people can use those and still find themselves struggling to get rid of this problem. And just wondering if they could use any alternatives. So here I am going to share 3 DIY (Do It Yourself) treatments that you might find very useful and effective. The best part is- you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen already :) So lets move on! By the way you don't have to use all 3 of it. You can just go for one and if your problem is old then you might have to keep doing it for couple of times to finally see the result.
#1 DIY Treatment
You'll need:- Tomato Pulp Paste & Lemon Juice. Just mix these two items and blend well. Then apply on your scalp. Wait 15-20 minutes after applying and wash it with your regular shampoo.
#2 DIY Treatment

You'll need:-White Vinegar & Water. Ad 1/4th of White Vinegar with 3/4th amount of water. Mix it well and apply on your scalp. Wash it after 10 minutes. It takes away flakes and itchiness.
#3 DIY Treamtment

This is probably the easiest one and most effective. You'll need:- Just Listerine (yes, the one you use as mouth wash). Apply Listerine on your head, you don't have to ad anything with it. Leave it for 2/3 minutes and then shampoo. As Listerine has alcohol and anti-fungal properties, it works very well. I've tried it myself and it does work wonder! I hope these tips can help. In case you need something ready and natural I recommend using Aloe Vera based shampoo. It can help clearing your dandruff and it can also improve your overall hair health including prevention of hair-loss.
